Revision as of 19:44, 2014 September 23
A ceiling lamp based on a resting rowing shell from underwater.
Size
23" diameter circle-ish; that means 75.4" circumference, ie 1.9m
- also see #Power Supply
Electronics
LEDs and Arduino ordered from adafruit, order 469886, justthis1please!
Arduino
- Arduino Micro w/o headers - $24.95
Arduino Size
0.7" x 1.9" x 0.4" (17.77mm x 49.52mm x 11.59mm)
LEDs
white
- 60 LEDs/m, max 1.2A/m at full brightness
- 1200mA / 60 LEDs = 20mA / LED
- installed length for 99 LEDs --> 1980mA at full brightness
- confirmed at 1950-1960mA
- suspect this is why things are getting hot
colour LED WS2812B
- 34 LEDs installed
- somewhere I have a reference of 60mA/each --> 2040mA
- measured current for both MC and colour LEDs it was at 1200 - 1250mA
- likely wrong, because the USB drove it just fine. So, must be able to limit to 500mA...
- datasheet: https://www.adafruit.com/datasheets/WS2811.pdf
- bought on ebay [1]
Power Supply
- need 2A for each 5V (colour), 12V (white)
- 0.5A, so 60W
- ebay [2]
- 10.7 x 4 x 3cm
